Well, another week has ended! of course, we did not want to miss yesterday but we had to think of the
safety for all of the students in the district. Weather is really hard to forecast, especially hurricanes. In the meantime, make sure any clubs your little hero wants to join or any shirts you want to buy, is handled tonight. Today,I sent home the letter so that you can join Class Dojo. For those of you that are not familiar with Class Dojo, it is a behavior tracking system. You can track your child's behavior daily. Be on the lookout for my orientation powerpoint (so that you can read and have any questions ready for me by the 17th) and a conference sign-up within the next few days.
Math
Resources:
Also, in their folders you will see their first quiz and their Math 4 Today assessment. We don't retest normally but since this was the 1st quiz, I wanted them to see how slowing down and actually reading and following directions will help their grades. I explained that this is a one time event. You also will see the Math 4 Today assessment, this one will not go into the gradebook. I will not put the first 3 in there to get them time to get accustomed to them.
Due to our Dorian, we will not take our quiz on lessons 4-6 and the math vocabulary until Wednesday, the 11th, and lessons 7-10 on Monday, the 16th. I have put all of the heroes into Zearn, which is basically the same lessons I'm teaching just taught by different teachers. The students do not know how to get in yet because we did not go into it yet, but the username and password will be the same as the one they use to log onto the computer. I am changing the usernames to match the ones they use on the computers tonight, so they won't have so many to remember. Zearn automatically assigns usernames which is why I have to change it.

Reading
Next week we will work on prefixes, suffixes, questioning, and visualizing. We will test on these skills on Friday the 13th. They completed a district assessment on their writing and I will be meeting with them within the next 2 weeks about what skills they need to work on.
Science
We are still working on the grasslands. The terms they will need to become familiar with include adaptations, producer, consumer, herbivore, omnivore, carnivore, and decomposer - related to grasslands.
Social Studies
The quiz that was supposed to be this week will be next Thursday, the 12th. They need to be familiar with the city, county, state, country, and continent they live on as well as know the 2 states and ocean that border South Carolina. this Quizlet can help prepare for the quiz plus everything they will be quizzed and tested on will be in their notebook. We are still taking notes.
